World population hits 8 billion in 2022
World
population day is celebrated on 11 July every year and it was estimated, that
this year (2022) the world’s population will cross 8 billion and it became
true. The theme of population day this year was:
"A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all - harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all".
The world population on 15 November,2022 crossed 8 billion .
According to
United Nations, World’s population may reach 8.5 billion in 2030 and 9.7
billion in 2050 and 10.4 billion in 2080 and will remain till 2100s.
The rate in
growth of population is at its slowest pace since 1950 and in 2020 it was just
1 percent growth in population.
According to
world population prospects 2022, India may cross China in terms of
population by the year 2023.
In India the
population in 2022 stands at 1.412 billion and for China it is 1.426 billion.
UN has named
15 November 2022 as the day of eight billion.
